The Bedford Goodfellows Club was formed in 1954 to help those in need of food assistance that live in our Bedford community. With the growth of the community, in both Temperance and Lambertville, it was deemed necessary to combine both areas encompassing BEDFORD to avoid duplication and to make certain no person or persons are overlooked when in need. What started as food baskets at Christmas time quickly expanded over the years to Easter and Thanksgiving food baskets along with toys at Christmas. Because of the generous support of the community and organizations along with our paper drive we have been able to continue to carry on with our mission. We are a 501c3 organization.
Mission Statement: To operate as an outreach organization that works in conjunction with the Bedford community to provide help and assistance with food to the needy individuals and families residing in Bedford Township.
We help the less fortunate families that live within the township by:
Distributing Holiday food baskets and toys at Christmas
Donating to the Bedford Senior Center food program
Donating to the Bedford Public schools to assist any student when help is needed
Helping families who need emergency food service
Distributing Government Surplus Food
We receive financial support and donations from:
Goodfellows Paper Sale sold at intersections and area businesses in December
Holiday letters mailed to businesses and individuals requesting donations (once a year)
Local schools and businesses collecting food through food drives and miscellaneous activities which take place throughout the year
Toys for Bedford children boxes are placed throughout our community at various businesses to collect toys that are distributed to children at Christmas each year
Bedford Goodfellows is looking for YOU! If you have a little extra time on your hands and don’t know what to do with it, please come and join us. The rewards are inspiring and endless!! Our organization is not a monthly commitment, but one that lets you volunteer whenever you have extra time. It might be a day, a few hours or perhaps a week (during our Christmas distribution). Any amount of time that you could share with us, would be greatly appreciated.
Any additional donations or questions please feel free to contact us at bedfordgoodfellows@gmail.com or P.O. Box 377 Lambertville, MI 48144
